गुरु नानक ने जब जनेऊ पहनने से इनकार

सिख धर्म के संस्थापक गुरु नानक की 551वीं जयंती गुरु परब है. उनका जन्म कार्तिक पूर्णिमा के दिन हुआ था.

नानक ने सिख धर्म में हिन्दू और इस्लाम दोनों की अच्छाइयों को शामिल किया. हालांकि सिख धर्म हिन्दू और इस्लाम का महज संकलन नहीं है.

गुरु नानक एक मौलिक आध्यात्मिक विचारक थे. उन्होंने अपने विचारों को ख़ास कविताई शैली में प्रस्तुत किया. यही शैली सिखों के धर्मग्रंथ गुरुग्रंथ साहिब की भी है.

गुरु नानक के जीवन के बारे में बहुत कुछ लोगों को पता नहीं है.
हालांकि सिख परंपराओं और जन्म सखियों में उनके बारे काफ़ी जानकारियां हैं. गुरु नानक के अहम उपदेश भी हम तक जन्म सखियों के ज़रिए ही पहुंचे हैं.

बालक नानक का जन्म 1469 में लाहौर से 64 किलोमीटर दूर हुआ था.

सिख परंपराओं में यह बताया जाता है कि नानक के जन्म और शुरुआती साल कई मायनों में ख़ास रहे. कहा जाता है कि ईश्वर ने नानक को कुछ अलग करने के लिए प्रेरित किया था.

नानक का जन्म एक हिन्दू परिवार में हुआ था, लेकिन उन्होंने जल्द ही इस्लाम और व्यापक रूप से हिन्दू धर्म का अध्ययन शुरू किया.

इसका नतीजा यह हुआ कि नानक में बचपन में ही कवि और दर्शन की अद्भुत क्षमता आ गई.

गुरु नानक के बारे में एक प्रसिद्ध कहानी है कि वो 11 साल की उम्र में ही विद्रोही हो गए थे. इस उम्र में हिन्दू लड़के पवित्र जनेऊ पहनना शुरू करते हैं, लेकिन गुरु नानक ने इसे पहनने से इनकार कर दिया था.

उन्होंने कहा था कि लोगों को जनेऊ पहनने के मुक़ाबले अपने व्यक्तिगत गुणों को बढ़ाना चाहिए.



नानक ने एक विद्रोही आध्यात्मिक लाइन को खींचना जारी रखा. उन्होंने स्थानीय साधुओं और मौलवियों पर सवाल खड़ा करना शुरू किया. वो समान रूप से हिन्दू और मुसलमानों पर सवाल खड़ा कर रहे थे. नानक का ज़ोर आंतरिक बदलाव पर था. उन्हें बाहरी दिखावा बिल्कुल पसंद नहीं था.

गुरु नानक ने कुछ वक़्त के लिए मुंशी के तौर पर भी काम किया था, लेकिन कम उम्र में ही ख़ुद को आध्यात्मिक विषयों के अध्ययन में लगा दिया. नानक आध्यात्मिक अनुभव से काफ़ी प्रभावित थे और वो प्रकृति में ही ईश्वर की तलाश करते थे.


नानक का कहना था कि चिंतन के ज़रिए ही आध्यात्म के पथ पर बढ़ा जा सकता है. उनका मानना था कि अपनी जीवनशैली के ज़रिए ही हर इंसान अपने भीतर ईश्वर को देख सकता है.

1496 में नानक की शादी हुई थी. उनका एक परिवार भी था. नानक ने भारत, तिब्बत और अरब से आध्यात्मिक यात्रा की शुरुआत की और यह यात्रा 30 सालों तक चली. इस दौरान नानक ने काफ़ी अध्ययन किया और पढ़े लिखे लोगों से बहस भी की.

इसी क्रम में नानक ने सिख धर्म की राह को आकार दिया और अच्छे जीवन के लिए आध्यात्म को स्थापित किया.

गुरु नानक ने जीवन के आख़िरी वक़्त पंजाब के करतारपुर में गुज़ारे.

यहीं पर उन्होंने अपने उपदेशों से भारी संख्या में अनुयायियों को आकर्षित किया. गुरु नानक का सबसे अहम संदेश था कि ईश्वर एक है और हर इंसान ईश्वर तक सीधे पहुंच सकता है.

इसके लिए कोई रिवाज़ और पुजारी या मौलवी की ज़रूरत नहीं है.

गुरु नानक ने सबसे क्रांतिकारी सुधार जाति व्यवस्था को ख़त्म कर किया. उन्होंने इस चीज़ को प्रमुखता से स्थापित किया कि हर इंसान एक है, चाहे किसी भी जाति या लिंग का हो.
